Clan Johnston/e in America is proud to sponsor a new program for additional restoration of the Lochwood Tower site. Beautiful scale models of Lochwood Tower as it might have been in the 1500s, hand crafted by Impressions (Scotland) Ltd. of Dunbar, Scotland (pictured above), are now available from Clan Johnston/e in America. One-half of the profit from the sale of the models has been earmarked for the castle restoration project.
During the 1980s our Chief undertook a substantial effort to preserve the ruins of Lochwood Tower, and make the site safe for visitors. However, much of the site still has not been excavated and it is not yet possible to see the full extent of the castle. In particular, the west range of outbuildings is still covered with rubble, the motte to the north is covered with trees and thick brush, and the layout of the formal gardens adjacent to the castle is not visible. The new project will help to further the significant work which has already been accomplished in safeguarding our shared heritage.
The model is approximately eight (8) inches in length, five (5) inches in width, and four and one-half (4-1/2) inches in height. Each model weighs nearly two (2) pounds. The price of a model is eighty-five dollars (U.S. $85.00) and shipping and handling is twelve dollars (U.S. $12.00). Payment may be made by check or money order payable to "Clan Johnston/e in America."
In additon, architectual site surveys of Lochwood drawn in the 1960s by Alastair M.T. Maxwell-Irving are now available from Clan Johnston/e in America, and all the profit from the sale of these drawings will be devoted to the restoration initiative.
